What did the Exception Report say (if this was on Windows)? Include Fault
Executable Name and Offset.
Warning!

Unable to find Halo CE v1.09 via it's registery error.
Installation of the OS runtime will not be available until
you re-install and update Halo CE.

What steps will reproduce the problem? If this happened in a command line
program, GIVE US THE COMMAND LINE ARGUMENTS YOU USED!
1. Download Open Sauce for Halo CE
2. Extract the contents for the 7z thing.
3. Run it
4. After the End-User license I have the above message. I have updated Halo CE
to 1.09 so I don't know why it's like that.

How many times have you been able to reproduce the issue?

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Please provide any additional information below. E.g. PC specs

You more than likely need to reinstall CE

The HaloCE installer should create the registry entry when you run it. Where as
running say the "portable" HaloCE (which doesn't actually install it) doesn't
create the directory paths we use in the OS installer.

Reviewing at the settings we use in the OS installer, we seem to only query the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry root. So if you installed CE for "only this user",
the registry entries (Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Halo CE) would
probably instead appear under HKEY_CURRENT_USER, which we don't query in the
3.1 installer.

I'll take to FireScythe about making sure we try and look in both locations in
future installers. For now, the only fix I can suggest is to reinstall CE/HEK
for "all users"

Unless I'm crazy. Pretty sure the CE installer offers such an option ("all
users/this user only")...been years since I've had to install CE on a machine.

Is everyone here running a 64-bit version of Windows? If so, what flavor? Win7?

Two others having these issues are on 64-bit Win8

Is there no way to manually install this? I am having this same problem using
Win8.1 x64. I have my Halo CE installed on a drive that isn't C: and would
prefer to not have to reinstall it (especially onto C:) in order for this to
work.

Sorry, there's no official way to manually install 3.1.

With that said, the installer for the next version has been improved with
regard to this and other related usability issues. But with *that* said, I
can't say when the next version will be released. We're pretty much still
operating on CMT's release schedule.
