I read your paper and would like to take a look at the code. Please publish your code as in agreement with a PNAS publication.

Hi Dr. Brandenburger,

I’m very glad to hear that you liked our paper!

The code is in the “analyses” branch of the GitHub folder. Apologies if I set the folders up strangely; I’m not super familiar with GitHub.

Unfortunately, the data are not open-access. The natality files we used to obtain county-level teen birth rates are restricted by NCHS. Researchers need to apply for access. We are currently working on an agreement with NCHS to allow us to publish county level teen birth rates, but as that agreement has not been finalized we can’t yet share these data.

If you would like to replicate the results, please see the instructions here for accessing the restricted data: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/nvss-restricted-data.htm. I am happy to provide files for cleaning these data once you have access.

If you would prefer to wait until we have approval from NCHS to publish the county-level teen birth rates, I can let you know as soon as those are available.
