Suggestions for German dictionary

Hi, I just played your nice clone and the German mode had me stumped a bit.

In German puzzles, there are two conventions:

• In crosswords, we replace umlauts Ä => AE, Ö => OE, Ü => UE and ß => SS. All two letters.
• In the most-popular word guessing show "Wheel of Fortune" (Glücksrad), Ä, Ö, Ü appear as single letters, and ß is replaced by SS (two letters).

So I think the German Palabrio should replace ß with SS in the dictionary, and provide Ä, Ö, Ü keys in the keyboard.

Yeah, I agree. I initially ignored diacritics because my mother tongue Spanish does not need them for this kind of game. That is true for other languages as well, but for others like German or Esperanto it doesn't work, and your solution would be much better.

Sadly, I don't plan on working on the clone anymore, I made the app to make a simple Wordle clone and learn new technologies. Since it hasn't picked up too much steam, it's not interesting enough for me to keep working on it.

Feel free to reuse any part or all of the codebase to make your own tho
