TicWatch Pro 3 has a HUGE battery life. Collector support for it would be fantastic. #1618

I've been using the Huawei Watch 2 as a collector with the Dexcom g6. Works great but the battery in it has to be charged twice a day. I often find myself low at night with a dead watch.

Just picked up the TicWatch Pro 3 GPS and it's better in every way - but the primary reason I got it was the obscenely long battery life. Going forward I feel like it would be time well spent to add this to the list of watches that can be patched to act as a stand alone collector with Dexcom. It works right out of the box in conjunction with the phone but the second you're more than 10 feet away from it, the watch no longer receives readings.

Thanks!

I would also be willing to pay/donate to Nightscout for a TicWatch Dexcom standalone collector patch.

sorry if this is a bit OT but: if you say huge battery life, what does it mean? I just got the Ticwatch Pro 2020 since it offered a huge battery life. I turned off nearly everything on that watch besides the real core stuff like notification (for two apps and the calendar plus calls) and also disbled most sensors etc. and I barely get 2 days out of the battery from the promised 5days. Using it as a collector would shorten that further down. So I would be interested what your experience with the battery life of the pro3 is? what features of the watch are you using and how long does the battery last?

@xannasavin I've got the Ticwatch Pro 2020 as well and get just over a day battery life (owned about 6 months), so essentially need to charge every day as I wear it for sleep tracking. The Ticwatch Pro 3 is the successor to our device, and features the snapdragon wear 4100 with huge efficiency improvements and actual 3 day battery life in full smart mode

thanks a lot for your answer. That is truely impressive! Maybe should have saved the money and get the more expensive one :( I switched to using my pebble for sleep tracking to get at least 1-2 days of battery life for the Ticwatch 🙈

But I'm wondering: since the Pro 3 has WearOS according to Amazon, shouldn't it already be capable of working as collector with the xDrip smartwatch app? I never tried with the Pro 2020 tbh because of - battery life

I use the tic watch E that works as a standalone collector. I can't see why the pro wouldn't also work the same as it is using the same wear os.

@Diabeetuss Why not just enabling the collector at the TicWatch? If it does not work or you don't know how to enable it, please use our support channels https://www.facebook.com/groups/xDripG5 and/or https://gitter.im/jamorham/xDrip-plus.

If your problem is solved, please close this issue.

It'd be super awesome if it were closed because you got the Ticwatch Pro 3 to work as a standalone collector.

Still willing to pay for a solution.

Thanks,

Jim
