Nightly connection loss with Libre 2 (Patched App) + Samsung Galaxy S10 #1847

Subject of the issue

Almost every single night, MissedReadingService shows the following error messages: „Aggressively restarting collector service due to lack of reception: backoff: [X]”, where X seems to iterate between 120 and 360. This issue happens usually 4-6 hours after I go to sleep. Meaning, at that point, my Samsung Galaxy S10 has been „idling” for that amount of time. Usually, this happens to be around 4am to 5am. After this, it keeps throwing these logs, and xdrip+ stops collecting any data. That is until I wake up and manually scan my Libre2 sensor once. After scanning with NFC, the patched Libre 2 App opens up. Right after this, the data collection starts working again. This is already my 3rd sensor while using the xdrip+ app. Usually, this wouldn't bother me too much, but soon I plan on doing a closed loop, so I'd definitely need data collection working throughout the night. Important: I have to rescan my sensor, which opens up the Libre 2 patched App, in order for data collection to work again. When I open xdrip+, it just shows „last data x minutes/hours ago”. Also, I NEVER actually scan my sensor ever during the day. Only once in the morning, because the data collection has stopped overnight.

Your environment

Expected behavior

There should not be a (actually not that random) disconnect during the night when my phone was idling for multiple hours.

Actual behavior

The data collection fails during the night, until I rescan my sensor using NFC again.

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Follow instructions to setup Libre 2 on S10
  2. Let the phone idle (e.g. for me this happens during night) for multiple hours
  3. Rescan the sensor (NFC) after connection is lost to reestablish the connection.

Looking forward to any help.

Best regards

@Rankhole The description of your settings includes an error, which could be the cause of the problem. We are asking the user community not to open an issue in order to report that they are having a problem with xDrip. We are asking them to instead post in one of the support channels. https://www.facebook.com/groups/xDripG5 https://gitter.im/jamorham/xDrip-plus

The reason I don't state here which one of your settings seems to be incorrect is that we would like the user community to assist us maintain a useful set of open issues guiding the limited number of developers we have as to what they should focus on, rather than spending time helping the user community use xDrip correctly. If I answer the question here, it may encourage other users to post here hoping for guidance.

If you post in the user channels, there are knowledgeable users and developers who frequent them and will assist you. The developers may then ask you to open an issue. That's the time then to open an issue.

Without doing this, there will be many more open issues and it will take time for us to go through every one of them trying to figure out if there is a problem with xDrip or the user needs help.
