Samsung Galaxy watch feature request #571

First I want to thank all the devs on this project for such a great application. I am fairly new to Xdrip and I have to say it is going to be a life changer for both myself and my daughter who have Type 1 diabetes.

I know that the Galaxy Watch using Tizen OS is not directly supported but I discovered a feature that hopefully we can explore to help us get the 5 minute updated glucose information directly to the watch without having to use an app like Wearable Widgets which might not be supported soon anyway. In the last stable release I noticed that the notifications from Xdrip were dismissable and were not persistent. Every 5 minutes the notification in the phone was updated with the new graph and the new glucose reading. Because I enabled notifications to be sent from Xdrip to my samsung watch the notification with the graph and everything updated very reliably. If i dismissed the notification then it cleared it on the watch and the phone but showed up again in 5 minutes. I noticed some issues with my G6 sensor in this release so I updated to the latest nightly build which is great when it comes to G6 support. The only downside was that the notification is now persistent similar to the Dexom notice which cannot be dismissed. So now the updates are not being sent to watch anymore. I know for a lot of people this is ideal but would you be willing to add a feature to define the type of notification so Gear users can get glucose on the phone easier than having to share a widget via Wearable Widgets?

I guess I got lucky. I installed the Wearable Widgets from the Google Play Store on my Samsung Galaxy Note 9, and before continuing with the automated process that started there, I proceeded to install Wearable Widgets for Gear S3 on my Samsung Galaxy Watch. Then I went back to the installation process on my phone, chose the widget for "xdrip+", and Bob's your uncle. Given some 2-3 minutes for the systems to settle, that is...

However, some users have reported that it stops working after a bit, even if the installation runs without incident. I haven't experienced this myself, but take nothing for granted.

I am having the same issue. Previous versions allowed for notifications to always be sent to my Gear S3 watch. Now, I only get alerts on my watch from Xdrip. Any method to always get notifications sent to my Gear s3 would be appreciated. Thanks for all the work you do on XDrip+!!

Try this document... I created it to help some users on the MiaoMiao facebook group (credit to arty-name for the original solution).

I was hoping to try and pull the graph (image) from the notification to show on the face as well, but no luck so far. I prefer this solution to the wearable widgets one as you have more control of the watch face. Note - Some of the apps needed are paid for apps.

That would be a method to get the information, but I am trying to go with a much simpler method. And, I am not looking for it to be my watchface. I still want my closk as the watchface.

Anyway, my combination of XDrip and Gear S3 worked perfectly for me until about three months ago. At that time, I assume that it stopped working after an update to my XDrip application. Or, I made settings changes that messed it up. Previously, I was receiving notifications every 5 minutes on the watch. I could just swipe the watch from the left side and I could see the notification of my current blood sugar along with the graph. It worked that way by only turning on notifications of Xdrip within my Samsung Gear app on the phone. I was hoping to see that functionality again.

I am currently on the latest version of XDrip and am currently using the Wearable Widgets app to put the Xdrip Widget on my Galaxy watch. This seems to work fine right now. On a earlier version of Xdrip I to used the notifications sent from Xdrip and this worked great as a notification to send the graph and glucose readings to my watch without having to use the Wearable widget app. I wish that Xdrip would re-implement the notification option. I think this is updated quicker than what I now have using the Xdrip widget. For now it gets the job done though.

Agreed. I am happy with the Notification/Tasker option but I would love to be able to send the graph as well as the reading.

@TimothyGold: is your Samsung watch still working with xdrip readings and wearable widgets? I'm thinking of getting a new Samsung Watch myself but wanted to make sure I get my xdrip values and graph displayed on the watch.

So far the wearable widget app still works great. As long as xdrip continues to support a widget then wearable widgets should be able to continue to forward the widget display to the watch. It's not as powerful as the real android support by any means but it gives me what I need in a watch that I think is superior to anything else out there right now. 20190130_111152

Thanks, looks good! Is there any difference to the 'real android support' you mentioned? And have you tried the self made solution from that miao pdf?

I've been begging for that to be fixed, for months now (I first posted Aug 13, 2018). If you use the 7/15/18 version, notifications to a Tizen watch will work--I don't know about to other watch OS's.

I might downgrade to that version. It was so nice to just have it work without any other software. I hope it gets back into the software. How do I request that feature along with you?

Hi - Do you need xdrip+ to be working on the phone for this? I have a Samsung S9+ and installed xdrip+ but it is not finding my miaomiao device when it scans during set up. Has anyone else encountered this and found a solution? Or is there a workaround so that the data goes directly to the watch? Thanks for your help.

Yes Watchmaker, Tasker and Autonotification, , have a look at my github page there you´ll find my Guide for it :)step by step. nothng left.

Hasta ahora, la aplicación de widget portátil todavía funciona muy bien. Mientras xdrip continúe admitiendo un widget, los widgets portátiles deben poder continuar reenviando la pantalla del widget al reloj. No es tan poderoso como el soporte real de Android de ninguna manera, pero me da lo que necesito en un reloj que creo que es superior a cualquier otra cosa en este momento. 20190130_111152

Hey ppl. Just got Miaomiao2 for a week. But i dont get how it shows up on my Samsung Galaxy Watch.. tried so much, but dont found out how connect the MM2 with xDrip and then shown on the galaxy watch. Is there someone who can try to help me step by step? Grtz
