I was thinking that it might be useful to use the same technology used in this plugin as a way of rapidly getting in touch with commanders in the field and directing them to nearby mysteries.

Use the Canon API front end to input places of interest. Eg System, Body Coordinates, Decriptive text. and priority. This generates a json file containing all points of interest.

When a commander jumps the plugin will fetch the latest list and tell the commander where the nearest POI with the highest priority is located wiith some text. eg

Cannon Alert: COL 173 SECTOR KY-Q D5-47 (20.4ly) Spectrographic analysis of witchs space has suggested that we may find a guardian base at this site. Please investigate and report back

The API could also have a back channel so a commander can click on a button to say that they are on their way. This could be a link to a web form that they can fill in or it oculd be a simple API call.

Then next on the next jump the message can will be be updated

Cannon Alert: COL 173 SECTOR KY-Q D5-47 (20.4ly) Spectrographic analysis of witchs space has suggested that we may find a guardian base at this site. Please investigate and report back. Commanders LCU No Fool LIke One and Kremmen are on their way. Commander Random Fellow is on site.

The plugin can notify automatically if a commander is on site.

What do you think Canonn people? @zebarmy @CmdrAdama @derrickmeHaffy

Excellent

I was looking at the Merope shell as a possible guided search. There are nearly 2000 systems known to EDSM between 135ly and 150kly so you could have an interface where commaders investigating would tick off a checklist when they arrive. If all items in the checklist are completed then the system is ticked marked a complete and removed from the list of systems..

I guess it is a model that would work nicely and would allow you to quickly work large areas.

I guess you could if you were so inclined put the commanders' positions on your 3d star map so show who is where and what they are investigating in real time.
