CylonJS - Making something basic

Abstract

We will go through the basics of Internet of Things development by taking some very entry level hardware (Intel Galileo and Edison setup) and run NodeJS on it. We will get it talk to a Backend as a Service and if all goes well communicate back to us. Cylon has some unique attributes and this will encompass some of those. Hopefully everyone will be able to pick up some hardware and get it to do some basic stuff after seeing this talk.

JavaScript outside of the browser

Not browser-based: My content is centered around JavaScript executing outside of a web browser.

Will you be present in Washington, DC?

I will be in Washington, DC while presenting.

Prerequisites

Some very basic understanding of how node works and what Javascript is.

There is some work getting the devices to be cooperative since this is device dependent I will briefly describe the process but won't get bogged down on it.

Additional Information

Code of Conduct

I have read, understand, and agree to follow the Node.DC Code of Conduct.

Could be good around the time of nodebots day? #8

+1, Nodebots is July 25th, so maybe the 9th or the 16th?

I'd like to know what type of device he or she is planning on talking about, but that's just my curiosity.
