Mac not showing up as source #4

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Launching the airmac server on a Mac Pro 1,1 (10.6.7) shows (via the menubar)
that the, "server successfully started." However, the machine does not show up
on either my iPad 2 or my iPhone 3GS along with the rest of my AirPlay devices
(2x Airport Expresses).

I don't see any firewall issues with port 7000 but I'm not a network maven so
any other suggestions would be welcome!

Oh, and this is for airmac 0.3 (and apologies for not better following the
issue submission format guidelines!)

Also using 0.3. Macbook 10.6.7. Program opened fine and says server is running.
I want to use this item to stream music from iTunes on a downstairs Win XP PC
to the Macbook upstairs. PC is running 10.2.2 iTunes.I also have airport
express.

The iTunes on the PC downstairs is showing the airport express and itself, but
I'm not seeing a third airplay device corresponding to my macbook.

Is this program meant to accomplish what I'm trying to do here? Or is only for
streaming from a compatible iPhone or iPod Touch?

Using Airmac 0.3 on Mac Pro OSX 10.6.7. Other than showing up on the menu bar &
claiming to run successfully... it does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

Does not show the desktop as an airplay destination on any of the iTunes or
'iPod App on iPad.'

Perhaps a Wiki page on how to use this would be helpful.

Also, can the author please put the Version Numbering on the 'About?'

Same as above. AirMac 0.3 is not showing up as a source on any of my devices or
computers for music or video, although streaming photos from iPhone's Photos
app does work. MacBook Pro + iMac, both 10.6.7.

Interesting... I hadn't thought to look at the Photos app, but that is indeed
working on both the iPad 2 and iPhone 3GS. All I really want to stream is audio
though, so this doesn't really help my goal but perhaps it does in
troubleshooting as the devices can see the computer as an Airplay source but it
appears to be dependent on the specific app that is running on the iOS device.

My goal is: double tap the device (iPhone or iPad) Home button, slide left in
the running app tray and select Airplay to stream audio from that device to the
computer.

yes you are right, Computer with Airmac installed, only appears as a airplay
video source but not as an only airplay audio source.
Pictures and videos from my Iphone plays great in my mac with Airmac. The
problem is with the music. Iphone's Ipod doesn't recognize the Mac with Airmac
as an airplay speaker.

Anyway, this tool is really promising. Hope the Dev fixes it!

Um, the main advantage to Apple's Airplay is it's audio capabilities. This app
needs it.

Same here on intel iMac and iPhone 4 running latest os releases. Checked
firewalls etc. and played with enabling airport and using that... no luck,
video, audio or otherwise with v 0.3

iPad 2 does not see my iMac intel 10.6.7 as an AirPlay source. I have tried the
same thing with Shareport4w and that one works swimmingly. As the others have
mentioned, the server says it is running successfully, but even after a reboot
nothing happens. I am logged in as a non-admin user on my Mac, could that be
the cause?

Same issues here, AirMac 0.3 running on Lion. No problems starting the app, but
it does not appear as an audio source. It does appear as a video and photo
source, but unlike the others who had success with these, I was unable to get
any pictures or video to appear on the mac though the iPhone apps behaved as if
they were streaming.

Same issue. Airmac 0.4 on Lion still not showing up as a source for audio or
video. I'm on an iOS 5 beta build.

Same problem as comment 20 here. Does it have anything to see with the IPV6

I have Lion 10.7.3 (latest), and only the Photo's app works. I am testing with
an iPhone 4s and iOS 5.0.1. Video apps including including iTunes, YouTube,
etc. do not show my Mac as a destination. The built-in Music app, and third
party music apps, do not show my Mac as a destination either. I applied a patch
found in another forum post, and that made the Photo's app work, but the Video
and Music apps still do not work.

Have not seen a response since January 18th, would love some help...

Same as above, would love to use this application but the source only shows up
in the standard photo-app.
I'm testing it on a iPhone 4 FW 5.0.1 Does anyone know a trick to let it work
how it supposed to do?

Hey everyone. I just found out about this project. I did some tweaking to the
code and hopefully it'll work for everyone now. I've never submitted code to
google code so if anyone needs the source, let me know, it's only a few lines
of code changes btw.

Had the same issue between Lion and iPhone 4S only showing up in Photos, tried
movingincircles tweek and now the iMac shows up in all iPhone apps (thanks
movingincircles!) but only video/slideshow works, not audio. I'd really like to
be able to stream audio as well. Anyone able to help on that front?

Hey Jerry, the original Airmac doesn't support streaming audio I believe, it'll
take much more to add support for that.

I've downloaded the source, edited it and published it on GitHub at
https://github.com/2SquaredStudios/Airmac. It should work with iOS 5, and all
quirks I was aware of have been fixed.

Guess I'll buy reflector.app
