I'll look into these :)
I found a link that opens compose new mail, but it does not have the wildcard to capture the addressee. Hoping you know how to find or make that work... http://webmail.netzero.net/?cf=pinsite&start_page=write
Thanks @Pointer111 for finding that, i was also struggling to find a wildcard-able URL. :(
Can you email the support team asking for a wildcard url thats what I do as last resort.
I had asked them concurrently with my request to you, a more general request to have mailto urls in web sites directed to netzero compose like gmail and yahoo do. The response was that they don't have that ability and don't plan to develop it at this time. I did not ask, and they did not say specifically that there is no wildcard-able url. Do you know any programming conventions that might be worth trying, or have any other ideas, or is it a lost cause?

Never a lost cause, we can figure out some hacky ways.
Please go to your address book, and then when you click on someones email notice how it opens it up in the compose page. Please try to get me that URL, if they have no encryption, hopefully, then we can use that :)
I had already tried that to no avail. It calls a java script so I can't copy a url there, and the url in the browser address doesn't change when the script is executed... :(

Oh dang ok try this install this addon: LiveHTTPHeaders https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/live-http-headers/
And then see what urls go through after you click that email link.
Hey there pointer im coming out with v2 release within this week or next week. Did support from netzero contact you yet? In version 2 you can submit handlers and share with the whole community straight from the addon :)
Thanks for asking, but I pretty much gave up with the last response from netzero many months ago - that they don't support those links and had no plans to develop. I don't know enough about how it works to follow up more or ask the right questions. I wish I did, because it would sure be helpful. Dave
