On restart browser, icon is updated to my icon, but then resets after a couple seconds #2

If i set an icon, then i restart my browser. The icon is initally regular firefox as expected, then after addon kick in it updates the icon to my specified icon as expected, but now after a couple seconds it unexpectedly reverts back to the original firefox button. Workaround to get it to stick is to:

disable the addon and enable it again
download something which forces dock icon update

Implemented a very dumb workaround in 1.0-night.rev9 because I just can't figure out why it's doing this. So it seems after updating the icon, after about 5 seconds it reverts. So I made it double apply the icon, but the second apply happens after 10sec.
