Discovered while I'm going through and starting to internalize the repository.

This PR:

• cleans up some of the dev dependencies
• removes unnecessarily suppressed ESLint lints
• fixes some spelling in the README
• adds a console.log before fetching dependencies while bundling

I thought that these are not big enough to warrant separate PRs, so I decided to bundle these together.
