Added link to NorESM2.2 nudging through a "Note".

adagj commented 1 year ago

Thanks @lina-boljka . Should the documentation for the noresm2.2 nudging go into the noresm2.2 branch instead? Probably good to have the note in the noresm2 branch, but instead of having a separate documentation for nudging noresm2.2, we can include it in the noresm2.2 docs?. What do you think @TomasTorsvik @lina-boljka ?

lina-boljka commented 1 year ago

Hi Ada

I thought there was no documentation for NorESM2.2? Feel free to copy the note over to NorESM2.2 branch as well if documentation exists. I think that a note on the NorEMS2 Nudging website may be useful as it gives people an option to use a different version of the model (with warning that it is preliminary), but with a much simpler regional nudging implementation. :)

Thanks! Lina

Hi @lina-boljka and @adagj ,

I created a branch in NorESM-docs for noresm2.2 documentation. It is mostly empty, except for a README.md file and a LICENSE file. I though Lina could put the NorESM2.2 nudging documentation there directly.

We will eventually have more NorESM branches that will need its own documentation (e.g. for KeyCLIM) and I think it's best if each of these are contained within separate branches, to make a clear distinction as to what belongs to the scientifically supported NorESM2/CMIP6 version, and what belongs to experimental versions. I would therefore put a link in the main branch to different versions, but not in the noresm2 branch (not to introduce cross-dependencies between branches). However, it would be best to populate the noresm2.2 branch first with the documentation, before creating the link, so we have something that builds on Read the Docs that we can point to.

@lina-boljka Hi, can you please explain what this model version noresm2.2 is exactly? Is it on github?

lina-boljka commented 1 year ago

Hi Thomas

Once the NorESM2.2 is populated with some documentation, my nudging stuff can be moved over of course. If you have a document that I should amend please let me know as I am not sure what you mean - or move my text wherever you wish.

Thanks. Lina

@MichaelSchulzMETNO the noresm2.2 was made by Dirk and it includes some CESM updates like the new version of CLUBB. It is not very much used, but should certainly be documented. I'll ask Dirk for a list, and make an attempt.

@TomasTorsvik I guess this is the time to decide on the future doc-structure... I'll make a discussion

And we'll leave this open for now and merge it later. Really appreciate your contribution @lina-boljka !

TomasTorsvik commented 1 year ago

I will meet with Lina next week to discuss how to best proceed with her contribution to the documentation.

oyvindseland commented 1 year ago

While NorESM2.2 works technically, there is a chance that this version will not be supported in any way in the future so we should be very careful when pointing any users to that version
