Missing Reference Stages & Stations Input Documentation #57

Problem

I am unable to add Reference Stages & Stations into XSViewer V3.1.11.0 database.

What I Did

After inserting various .CSV surveys and construction reference planes into database, I went to the Reference Stage and Reference Station options of the "Data Tab". When I click on the "Edit Tab", the only options are Edit, Export, and Delete. Unfortunately they are all highlighted grew and not select-able. I then searched the online help website for assistance on how to import/add Reference Stages and Stations.

The Reference Stage and Stations documentation (Online Help > Data Menu Items >Reference Stages and Stations) cites the "importing and exporting" section for both the Stages and Stations sections. Selecting the "Reference Stage Types" section's link takes the user back to the Data Menu Items part of the website (Online Help > Data Menu Items), while the "Reference Station Types" selection link is broken (404 Page Not Found error).

The only "import" information found within the Online Help > Data Menu Items belongs to importing surveys, but this section does not provide any useful information.

Reproduction steps

  1. Created database, imported survey and CRP .CSV files
  2. Selected either the Reference Stage Types or the Reference Station Types options of the Data dropdown menu
  3. Tried adding stages and stations, but unable to do so
  4. Searched for online help, but no documentation/methods available

Anything else?

In closing, two items are needed/missing

  1. Online documentation on how to import/add Reference Stages and Stations
  2. Fix bug that prevents the addition of Reference Stages and Stations

Unfortunately the ability to import reference stations and stages is temporarily unavailable.

Previous versions of the software used Microsoft Access for this purpose. But with version 3 of the cross section viewer we are no longer able to use Microsoft Access.

We hope to reintroduce the ability to import reference stations and stages in a future release when we get more funding.

In the meantime you can use sqlite directly to import data into your database and then it will show up in the software.

Backup your database before you make any changes.
