Hector has made some improvements to the mother README. Not sure if you got his stuff incorporated into this new file? I don't think he knew you were doing this and vice versa...

I think if Northbridge intends to teach volunteers best practices (this was mentioned on the phone call), we should be requiring virtualenv. Pretty much every python shop uses it. It's important enough that it is part of the standard python distribution starting in 3.4.
this is cleaner/more specific and also can be used in a later iteration of the readme that can be sectioned off for each machine type (linux, mac, windows). still working on it but at least the majority of it is fixed. working on step #5.
