Track Downloads Correctly And Displays Correct Filesize, But Has No Playable Audio Or Waveform Information #22

Just wanted to start off by saying that I love this addon so much, you are literally are hero to me! Love being able to archive SoundCloud exclusive tracks in .m4a!

However, I tried recently downloading a few songs from Kanye's SoundCloud page (More specifically this one here if anyone wants to try and replicate the download)

I tried playing with iTunes & VLC to no avail. Tried running it through Spek to get the waveform info, only to find that it had no info at all

This only seems to be a trend with Kanye tracks, as 95% of everything else I download either does it in .m4a or downloads the .mp3 file!

Hi, thanks for reporting this. I think this has the same cause as this issue and as I mentioned, there is nothing much I can do about it. This seems to be an issue on SoundCloud's side. What I also mentioned there is that I could build an automatic fail-over from m4a to mp3, if we encounter one of those problematic tracks. Would this be alright for you? I know it's not a perfect solution, but I don't have the time at the moment to fix this properly. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Thanks for getting back! Thats absolutely fine, I completely understand that its an issue on SoundCloud's side. I think an automatic fail-over to mp3 would be a good idea for problematic tracks like that, but dont worry if you dont have the time!

Could you attempt to re-download the Kanye song and then follow these instructions (Only follow step 1-4 and then drop the file as a comment in this issue). I currently do not have SoundCloud GO+, so I can't test for myself. I need to know if the plugin currently correctly throws a warning if one of those unplayable files is encountered. Thanks in advance! :)

I've got GO+, the M4As download and has a 0kbps. In my car player, it will play but when you restart the radio, it will not retain its duration, instead starts from the beginning.

Anyways, the workaround is to re-encode using freac (Windows).
