Fix for IE11 on Win8 and updates and fixes for @mzedeler QUnit tests.

Also fixes a few other issues:

Image preloading was broken, loaded all images and caused multiple requests per image on certain browsers.
Unwanted tags (link, script and style) were removed in an insecure way, initialized html to DOM and then removed the elements.

I've read the code and can sign off on it. It'd be nice if the things above are looked into first, though.
