Offline charging issue #32

hi, I have found an issue (which is kind of popular if you check the comments) regarding offline charging. My s3 mini does not seem to be able to charge while turned off, the usual offline battery animation does not show, instead it hangs at the loading animation. I hope this issue can be identified and fixed soon.

did you check your battery stats? it should be charging, the animation freeze is a known issue but since it charges - its working (form follows function)

I have the same problem with the last version (CM 12 20150205). This problem persists? Can I safely charge my phone offline? When I unplug the power, the screen does't turn off, staying stuck at loading animation, so I have to remove the battery.

Hi, the charging does work, so yes its safe but it behaves eratically. One time its charging others it doesnt. there was an episode where the animation freeze drained my battery. I can confirm its not a battery issue since i've used 2 different batteries on this.

Ok solved this, just use battery callibration tools and it will work like a charm

I have a little different problem but is related to this one. My phone loads android completely when I try to charge battery offline. It does the same if I power off the phone while charging (system reboots instead of powering off and continue charging off line) (CM 12.1 20150815)

Hello, My s3 mini with CM 12.1 20151204 isn't able to charge when turned off. I was scared to not be able to turn it on anymore (I don't have another s3 mini to charge my battery). @aps2201 It seems it isn't just an animation bug.

As a workaround to get it to work again: I started it in recovery mode, waited a little for battery life and then selected reboot (Similar idea is shown here: https://youtu.be/bKRTydvcIWo, but I didn't remove my battery)

What I have to do to fix this issue?

Hi... using cm 12.1 20160210. My phone is able to charge when is turned off but offline charging status image is not working. It's very useful to know when phone is fully charged.

This is critical in my case, offline charging is not possible! I am running CM 12.1-20160226-UNOFFICIAL-golden with TWRP recovery 2.8.1 and kernel version: 3.0.31-novafusion on a GT-I8190L (I8190LUBANE1). @jaysn any ideas? I suspect my powered off charging animation is gone. But I have no idea how to get it back.
