Torrents starting in "pausing" state [Sonarr]

About 5% of the time when torrents get added through sonarr they start in a "pausing" state. Deleting the torrent and re-adding it via sonarr will "fix" the issue but it seems a little odd. It definitely has permissions to the media folder as its 777. the media folder is a zfs partition so space is definitely there. I've started logging with rtorrent to see if anything pops up the next time this happens but otherwise any ideas as to why this happens?

Sorry, but I don't know anything about 'sonarr'. May be, you should ask question to it's author? What relation ruTorrent has to this?

Basically sonarr is a program that grabs TV shows from websites and sends the .torrent file to rutorrent . For some reason about 5% of the torrents added through sonarr get put in a "pausing" state and I cant figure out why.

It cant scrape the first tracker, but it can the second one, but just goes ahead and pauses.

@jdlovins Did you ever find a solution to this? It seems to happen sporadically with torrents added from public trackers (never with my private trackers). I see the torrent start in ruTorrent, it downloads the metadata, then it goes to the "Stopped" state. Re-adding it from Sonarr or starting the torrent in ruTorrent will cause it to start without any issue.

If I take the same torrent file and manually add it to ruTorrent, it starts just fine. There is nothing really unique about how the public torrent is added from Sonarr versus the private torrents that work.

@loueradun sadly I couldn't figure out a solution and I only used private trackers as well. I just switched to deluge as it works 100%, even if i have to use deluge. It seemed to have something to do with the trackers?

That is unfortunate. I use the autodl-irssi plugin in rutorrent that runs a script to push IRC announces straight to Sonarr (so Sonarr can filter the announces and grab the torrents it deems are wanted), so using deluge would just add another moving part to my setup.

If I do a trace log in Sonarr I see that it immediately does a request for the status of torrents after adding the torrent, so perhaps it has to do with that (that would explain why it sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't as the timings could be slightly varied).

I have not tried the fix that was mentioned earlier in the issue because the issue doesn't seem related to torrents in subfolders vs those that aren't.

I got around that by just using a blackhole over the direct client config. I would get that as well and just gave up as it was just too annoying to bother with.

My config is using a blackhole and autotools to move it to the watched folder in Sonarr.

Been working for months without a problem.

@loueradun i can observe the same. On torrents with subfolders it causes the problem on my 0.9.8 / 0.13.8

Shame that this bug has never been fixed. There's nothing more infuriating than all the torrents going into "pausing" state out of the blue, and no combination of Start, or Stop then Start, or Force Recheck, will bring them out of "Pausing." Only solution is to delete and start over.
