Definitely want to keep it on Softlayer, but agree w/ making it beefier server so we can showcase it as a great demo. Will ask them for credits.
So, yesterday the eboladata server vanished.
No system is available at that IP address. We should consider it lost.
We did not have automated backups of the drupal database on this site.
The most recent backup is the dkanupdate site: http://dkanupdate.ebola.sierraleone.nucivic.build/
Better yet, no one at IBM seems to have access to be able to do anything about it.
Should we go ahead and spin up a new server for eboladata.org on softlayer? 2core, 2GB server is $55/month
Or should we save on the monthly fees and spin it up on digitalocean? $20 per month over there for 2GB 2core.
Right now, eboladata.org is on a 1GB CentOS server under IBM's own marketplace account. This is why it is so slow.
Right now, eboladata.org is managed through a devshop server I installed originally to show it could be done on softlayer, but that server has since been renamed and reassigned to sierraleone.
We should create a new server just for EbolaData.org, exactly like there is one for sierraleone and liberia. This way eboladata.org is our first customer, and we can use it as a testing ground for deploying updates and providing support.
I would like to move it under our own cloud hosting accounts so we have more control over this server. We can't resize it ourselves, or reset root passwords if it is compromised, for example.
