Plugin installation fails with no visible error #61

1. Install Eclipse Indigo 3.7.1 (I tried Classic, EE or Java)
2. Install ADT and do PostInstallation Steps
3. Install PhoneGap Plugin

I expect the PhoneGap Icon to appear. Even with a new workspace, no Icon and no
Wizzard is found.
.log is empty and Installation Details show:

Android *: 16.0.1
...
jQuery Mobile Licence: 1.2.6
...
PhoneGapForAndroid: 1.2.6

There was a simular topic in the forum with the same result on an OS X machine.
This is tested on Windows XP.

I can created working PhoneGap projects but would like to use the plugin as
well.

If you do File -> New -> Project... ? Does "Phonegap for AndroidProject"
and/or "Phonegap Wizards" show up?

Hmm. It sounds like you're doing everything right. I don't have easy access to
XP, but would be surprised if that made a difference.

Do you have the following in the eclipse/plugins directory?

ls -l eclipse/plugins/*mds*
-rw-r--r-- 1 paulb staff 1155145 Dec 20 17:05
eclipse/plugins/com.mds.apg_1.2.6.201112201653.jar

I found a solution.
I have Java 1.5 installed on the machine also. The required version in eclipse
was set to 1.5.
It doesn't suffice to have Java 1.6 been set as installed JRE.
But when I change the config.ini setting -Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.6 and
start eclipse with the -vm parameter set to an 1.6 directory, the phonegap icon
appears.

Thanks for sharing the solution!

I'll leave the issue open to investigate if there is a way to not silently fail.
