It turns out that lots of organizations use some form of "tea time" to share knowledge and get help. I think it would be fun and informative to get some outside practitioners to share how this works for them. For example, Kara Woo is a data scientist with Sage Bionetworks here in Seattle, and she also worked at WSU and NCEAS for awhile before doing her MLIS here at UW. I'm betting she'd be willing to come and share some of her experiences with us.
