Let's get a newsletter out in the next few days before the BCC deadline closes.
Some topics:
that all sounds great, yo! i am happy to help, though i need to limit my typing.
in this case you will be assigned brainstorm (if possible) and proofreading :)
sounds good! i can videochat with you today or tomorrow if you want to brainstorm together.
please do not proofread this yet - I will finish the first draft tomorrow, as it's late :) here's the working doc. https://hackmd.io/aVp7Qd0LSeu_a1xYyWjUmw?both
i am metaphorically sitting on my proofreading hands! 🤲 actually, what i'm doing is not reading it yet. 😀 lmk when i should go through it. and thanks again for putting together this issue. great idea to do it now. 🙌
I added two items on citizen science (and I have a strong COI with both of them). So feel free to remove them if you think it's not fitting or overkill 😄
i don't think these things need to be regarded as COI. they are relevant efforts that we know about. we're not, like, reviewing them or funding them or anything; just announcing them. do bosc organizers have a COI about publicizing BOSC?
I think the situation is different, as BOSC is an OBF-owned event and this is the OBF newsletter after all. 😉
But more seriously: I don't think it's really a COI, but more about me being biased about how relevant I deem the things I work on for our newsletter! So I'll let it up to @yochannah to decide whether it really is a fit or not. 😃
I agree, worth noting as a potential COI for Yo, but still relevant and appropriate content for the OBF newsletter.
@gedankenstuecke, you are a gem :) Those are both very interesting links and you wrote the text too 😍
okay, I name first draft complete - if anyone is around to proofread by any chance I might be able to get it off tonight?
Thanks @peterjc & @yochannah. I'll have a look right now!
yo, it looks good! i made a few minor edits (hope they got saved—i’m a bit unclear on whether the hackMD interface is real-time syncing like google docs).

I had a look over it too and LGTM as well! @nlharris I saw your edits, so it's all good!
you're both my heroes 😍 I'll finalise and send it off now.
Thank you for drafting and sending it out! 💖

Okay folks - the content for this issue is frozen - please add all new newsletter ideas in this issue
Newsletter sent! Hopefully will hit inboxes anytime now.
Got it on bosc-announce@googlegroups.com :)
This is a call to everyone out there who works in open bioinformatics - please share interesting stuff! This could be a new project launch, an interesting update or release, a link to useful resources (e.g. some nice biology related icons or an open source tool that could be useful, etc. If you aren't sure about something, feel free to drop me a line personally to discuss it, e.g. via twitter (yoyehudi) or email (yochannah@gmail.com).
Promoting yourself or your workplace is totally okay here - this is literally what the newsletter is for, within reason!
The next newsletter will probably be in early 2020.
