Starting the draft of the next newsletter (closes #37 when merged).

There's a few bits and bobs where I could help with:

Tentatively, this should go out in early March (but I'm not sure prior to March 5, the date of the ISCBacademy talk is realistic?)

In any case, if you have any topics that you'd like to add as community updates, please leave a comment here or reach out via Mastodon/email, etc.

ooh - would y'all be interested in a shout-out to cohort-based open science 101 NASA training? applications currently open :) https://openlifesci.org/nasa/

gedankenstuecke commented 9 months ago

@yochannah sure, that sounds great! What's the application deadline for those trainings? As I think most realistically the newsletter won't go out before early March (I hope it doesn't take that long, but just to tone down expectations 😂 )

  • The CWL conference in the Netherlands: @mr-c you added it into the last newsletter as 'save the date', is there a registration or any updates worth putting into this one?

Updated website: https://www.commonwl.org/conferences/2024/

The 2024 Common Workflow Language Conference will be held primarily on the campus of VU Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, on Wednesday & Thursday May 15th & 16th. Following is a contribution-a-thon on that Friday. The conference talks will be also presented online, and there will be two online-only sessions the week prior at times convenient elsewhere in the world.

The call for submissions will open later in February 2024 with signups for attendance to follow.

Thanks, added it in @mr-c!

😁 Thanks Bastian! @iramosp, could you work out a nice cohort advertising blurb? I guess it'll be for Cohort 2 onwards...

Here is our contribution:

Join the Nebula Open Science Program by OLS and NASA

The Nebula program is a dynamic 6-week online training designed for individuals and teams eager to integrate open science practices into their research. In collaboration with NASA TOPS, OLS will offer five cohorts per year. Benefit from expert guidance, hands-on learning and tailored support to advance your projects. The next round of applications opens in late March.

Hi! Not sure if I am still in time, but our lab (the lab of prof. Stein Aerts, VIB-KU Leuven) is organising a SCENIC+ webinar at the end of March (March 26, 5pm CET). The registration form can be found here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScT6D5jK5iCLn_bv83hKdIOJQnZ_Zfp4vlf4LcIhKMo3-CHbA/viewform?usp=sf_link. It would be great if you could highlight this!

Some background information:

gedankenstuecke commented 8 months ago

Oh sorry @JulieDeMan, I fear the newsletter went out yesterday evening (UTC)! The next newsletter will probably go out around the timing of BOSC (#40), if you have any things that would be relevant in June/July we'd be happy to add those!
