how about generic core, science core, biology core? And for the physicist in me, I would like to spell out that we are going to make the standard approximations done throughout biology that non-relativistic, classical physics hold. Meaning we don't consider speeds close to light, and will ignore quantum effects that clash with classical physics. Then we can assume things such as universal time, all material entities having knowable locations etc.

As discussed by email and on the OFOC call today, some contributors would like to see a "generic core" that has broader scope than biology. The "bio core" could import the "generic core".
I believe that the proposed generic core would consist of BFO classes, RO Core relations, IAO metadata, and various classes from ontologies that are OBO projects but have scope that goes beyond biology. Off the top of my head, these include IAO, OBI, GAZ, ENVO, ChEBI.
See also the Common Core https://github.com/CommonCoreOntology/CommonCoreOntologies ontologies, some of which have generic scope.

Looking at current version on manual branch, it seems the majority of classes are non-bio.
