VTO Purls

See below. I believe creating the VTO PURL domain under OBO should fix the 
situation. ATM because there is no "NS", the redirection to /obo/NS/about/ID 
doesn't work (see 
http://code.google.com/p/obo-foundry-operations-committee/wiki/OBOPURLDomain)

Hi,
      I have been asked to request that the Vertebrate Taxonomy Ontology be added to the OBO library and to serve as contact for this ontology.  The VTO was developed and is maintained by the Phenoscape project.  The VTO covers vertebrate taxa, including fossil and other taxa that are not included in NCBI, primarily pulled from the taxonomy pages of PaleoDB.  More details on this ontology are here: http://www.jbiomedsem.com/content/4/1/34.

Although the ontology already has an OBO purl 
(http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/vto.owl), the purls for terms within the 
ontology are not resolving, and Phenoscape personnel have been told that 
registering the ontology will correct this.  In addition to myself, several 
other people involved with the development and deployment of this ontology 
follow these lists and we will be happy to answer any questions you have about 
this request.

me know if I should add anybody.

Hi Melanie,
                Sorry for the delay, I've added the ontology home page (a wiki section), and the tracker link.  We don't have a separate mailing list apart from the tracker, but the obo-taxonomy list would be appropriate unless we need to have a dedicated list. I have confirmed with Jim Balhoff that the three names listed are the maintainers for phenoscape PURL's.

I updated the ontologies and trackers.txt files (in the OBO CVS and 
obo-registry) and created:
- an obo-vto PURL group
- a VTO PURL domain managed by the obo-vto PURL group (pending approval, TODO 
check in a few days)

I recommend that the obo-vto group be added as maintainer of the existing 
obo/vto.owl PURL (if ctorniai, balhoff or cmungall could add it that'd be great 
:))
