Software WG meet up at Bernstein conference (Sept 13--16, Berlin) #108

Hi @OCNS/software-wg : please note if you're attending the Bernstein conference in Berlin from Sept 13--16 this year. It'll be good to have an informal get together of the WG. We could go out for a meal etc. together and catch up. Always good to meet folks in person :)

I've registered already and will hopefully make it (still need to apply for a visa)

Won't be there... need to stay put next few months. I agree would be nice for all to meet in person sometime soon.

I signed up for the dinner, but that leaves a few more :) Also, I think we're right next to the zoo, which is nice.

Sorry folks, I won't make it to Berlin after all. I was working on my bookings already (I thought I was being quite early :D) and found that the next appointment to apply for a Schengen visa is on 27th of September (!). Apparently, there's a massive backlog of visa applications at the moment, and there's no way to get an appointment earlier.

Folks that are going should still get together if possible. Virtual meetings don't have the same team/community building effect as meeting in person does :)

Sorry to hear that! Visa stuff is always very annoying. Not having this bother was a rather nice upside of Covid. I kinda hoped hybrid events would be here to stay. While it isn't the same as meeting in person, it's much better than not being able to meet at all.

I'll close this now. I hope you all have a good time at the Bernstein conference. We'll hold the software wg meeting the week after (opening ticket for that now).
