[Feature Request] Import words from internal Kobo «saved words» file #278

Why It could be useful for all who read books in foreign languages For example, I still learn English and regularly come across words in books that I don’t know. And I mark them in Kobo «for learn».

Because learning words is very inconvenient with Kobo. And Obsidian has a useful Anki plugin for learning words.

What Make an option to import in a separate note in Obsidian all words that are marked as «saved» If Kobo has such data, it would be cool to indicate the date when the word was marked when importing. To remove duplicates. Or at least indicate the book within which they are marked.

I’m not familiar with this feature, can you link to some kobo documentation that explains this please?

I did some minor research on the internet and found this https://goodereader.com/blog/electronic-readers/here-are-7-hidden-features-of-the-kobo-e-reader is it point 5 on this list?

If you are comfortable searching you database and try to find where kobo stores these words, I would appreciate that. No worries if you can’t, it just saves me some time😁

I would also love this feature, @OGKevin. It’s indeed point 5 on Good e-Reader’s list.

I’m not very tech-savvy, but I managed to open my KoboReader.sqlite file and found my saved words under WordList. The definitions of the words aren’t saved, which I assume is due to dictionary copyright issues. The database otherwise contains columns for the saved words, the local path to the book where I found each word, and the language of the word

Right, I'll see if I can spent some time on this project in one of these weekends!
