add .github/workflows directory with github actions folders
remove travis-ci files
update build status badge

Hi @msuchard, I amended the last commit but then had to force push the new commit. I think it is all good though and the changes you asked for have been made.

It's too bad the build tests don't show up in the pull request like they did with travis.
