Explore RO Crate and document potential use #280

Description from the RO Crate site:

A Research Object (RO) provide a machine-readable mechanism to communicate the diverse set of digital and real-world resources that contribute to an item of research. The aim of an RO is to replace traditional academic publication as a PDF with a couple of supplementary materials; to instead provide a structured archive of all the items that contributed to the research outcome, including their identifiers, provenance, relations and annotations.

Outcome of this issue would be documentation on RO Crate's potential utility to the OHDSI GIS/ Gaia project

RO-Crate is built on top of schema.org, JSON-LD and a schema.org extension from Bioschemas called ComputationalWorkflow. Alternatively, MedicalObservationalStudy along with extensions from EHDEN/GOFAIR and WorldFAIR WP7 (INSPIRE) is also built on top of schema.org and JSON-LD. Only it does both software packaging like RO-CRATE does AND it is an OHDSI knowledge graph too.

So when we consider the potential use of RO-CRATE there are perhaps two approaches to packaging schema:SoftwareSourceCode that OHDSI uses during the ETL process and subsequent data analyses.

This makes me think the decision to take one approach or the other to increase the FAIRness of OHDSI could be a community decision, not one that the GIS WG takes alone.
