The database and related toolkits are intended to be designed and applied with OMOP CDM to introduce SDoH and Environmental datasets into the healthcare research.
The purpose and the ultimate plan is to provide researchers and community with a public, standardized, convenient and AI-ready database and tools to apply with the SDoH and environmental datasets to enrich the healthcare data domains and potentially discover the new research topics.
Infrastructure
Current GaiaCore infrastructure is good enough to conduct the research, below modules may be considered or added to accelerate the data integration and provide a better data serving functionalities:
A Python based Gaia framework
A well-designed, user-friendly data catalog interface
A well-designed, user-friendly and customizable data visualization interface
SDoH and Environmental data vocabulary and concepts mapping
A few sample pilot projects
Timeline
2024-March:
Finish the POC of the SDoH and Environmental database
Finish the POC of data catalog and data ingestion tools
Implement add-hoc module to convert current DB to gaiaDB
2024-April:
Finish the POC of data visualization tool
2024-May:
Test the db and toolkits with some minor pilot projects
2024-June:
Release the tool for public
Collect feedback from public
Above timeline is drafted based on initial plan, no final decision made yet.

Manuscripts
Poster in some conference
OHDSI community exposure
Support
A better guidance of SDoH and Environmental vocabulary and standardization
A better guidance of publishing the toolkits if possible
Have a separate geometry table, but would like to determine a crosswalk/conversion to OHDSI GIS structure: combination of all variable columns for one table
Kyle will meet with Jiahang and others offline to discuss this problem and will set up some documentation tasks after that
