Thanks for noticing. We'll take care of those HCPCS. We'll let you know once it's done
Thanks for your prompt response. If you could give me a timeframe of when do you expect this to be fixed I would be very grateful.
The problem is that HCPCS reuses outdated concepts, for example: Q2042 was "Injection, hydroxyprogesterone caproate, 1 mg" till 2017-11-05, but beginning from 2019-01-01 it becomes "Tisagenlecleucel, up to 600 million car-positive viable t cells, including leukapheresis and dose preparation procedures, per therapeutic dose"
So, we can't just change the mapping, because if the Q2042 concept exists in a patient data before 2017, the mapping to "hydroxyprogesterone caproate" is correct. And of course timeline depends on that principal solution what to do if the code is reused over time
I started this discussion on the forum http://forums.ohdsi.org/t/hcpcs-codes-change-their-meaning-over-time/6182
Thanks for starting the discussion. I hope a solution would be found soon.
I would like to reopen this issue untill we make two separate mappings.
@dimshitc - Just wanted to follow up on these mapping issues the check on progress. Has there been any progress with this mapping issue?
Thank you for your help on this

@m-khitrun can you please add these codes
HCPCS Q2040 OMOP Concept ID: 35605867 OMOP Concept Name: Botulinum Toxin Type A Injection
HCPCS Q2042 OMOP Concept ID: 36249937 OMOP Concept Name: 17-alpha-Hydroxyprogesterone Injection
HCPCS Q2041 OMOP Concept ID: 41085967 OMOP Concept Name: von Willebrand factor 1 UNT Injectable Solution
valid_start_dates of new codes is January 01, 2019.
see here https://hcpcsdata.com/Codes/Q/Q2041 (and other two codes as well)
but you need to add for these codes, that they are already with the new meaning in the vocabulary.
Also there is this https://athena.ohdsi.org/search-terms/terms/40664685 this Concept Replaced link which were valid for an old meaning, but now valid for the new meaning of concept. please take into the consideration when apply the reused concepts logic
The HCPCS codes for cancer therapeutic drugs Kymriah (Q2040, Q2042) and Yescarta (Q2041) seem to be mapped to non-cancer drugs. Here is the current mapping with the corresponding description:
HCPCS Q2040 OMOP Concept ID: 35605867 OMOP Concept Name: Botulinum Toxin Type A Injection
HCPCS Q2042 OMOP Concept ID: 36249937 OMOP Concept Name: 17-alpha-Hydroxyprogesterone Injection
HCPCS Q2041 OMOP Concept ID: 41085967 OMOP Concept Name: von Willebrand factor 1 UNT Injectable Solution
The NDC codes for these drugs have been mapped to the correct ones as shown here:
NDC 71287011902 OMOP Code: 792853 OMOP Name: Axicabtagene ciloleucel 200000000 CELLS Injection [Yescarta]
NDC 00078084619 OMOP Code: 1510358 OMOP Name: tisagenlecleucel 600000000 CELLS Injection [Kymriah]
NDC 00078095819 OMOP Code: 792746 OMOP Name: tisagenlecleucel 250000000 CELLS Injection [Kymriah]
Could it be possible to review the HCPCS mappings and update them accordingly?
Many thanks,
