this issue address similar problem as #3393 .
As an example, in Slicer, there's a subtle indicator if items are related. Here the volume Lung-transformed has a curved grid icon on the right indicating that it's under a transform:
When you select the transform it becomes blue and the volume is highlighted:
Or if you select the volume the transform is highlighted:
@dan-rukas do you know if the design for this is being changed?
@james-hanks I do not see this feature implemented (at least not as requested). See example in https://viewer.imaging.datacommons.cancer.gov/v3/viewer/?StudyInstanceUIDs=1.2.840.113654.2.55.192012426995727721871016249335309434385.

Indication of linkage between images and corresponding derived series (link icon under the image thumbnail).
Currently, in order to identify which series have annotations (segmentations or RTSTRUCT), the user should either drag individual series into the viewport and see, or select the annotation and drag it into the viewer.
It might be more intuitive if the availability of annotations could be indicated with an icon next to the series thumbnail (to keep it simple, this could be an icon that is grayed out or not depending on whether annotations referencing the series exist, without any count indicator). This icon could replace the current "Instance number" annotation under the series thumbnail.
