What feature or change would you like to see made?

• Implement integration with the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resource (FHIR) standard for healthcare data exchange
• Leverage the existing example from a community member as a starting point
• Create a user interface (UI) or extension to demonstrate the FHIR integration within OHIF
• Provide documentation and examples showcasing how to interact with FHIR servers like fhircast using OHIF

Why should we prioritize this feature?

FHIR is an emerging standard for healthcare data exchange and interoperability, and integrating it with OHIF will enable seamless communication with various healthcare systems and data sources. By supporting FHIR, OHIF can position itself as a powerful platform for accessing healthcare data from FHIR-compliant sources. This feature aligns with OHIF's goals of promoting interoperability and providing a comprehensive medical imaging solution.

To-do list for integration:

• Add preferences page for configuration
• Add deploy only preferences
• Document list of services that FHIR can run and determine which would need end user UI (button, etc)

We didn't include this in the OHIF 3.9 release due to its large scope, but we are actively seeking funding opportunities to help bring it to OHIF.
