It would be great if we could adopt most of the GBIF front page functions. The search box and the occurrences map would be the two most useful and appealing additions, in my opinion. The live total # of occurrences stat would also be good. I'd hold off on the # of publications unless we get to the point where there's a big enough number to actually brag about:) I'd also add it would also be nice to incorporate static and/or slideshow specimen images, as well as blog posts or other online articles, the way the GBIF site does--but without being a carbon copy. The articles/blog posts could be generated by faculty, staff, students, collaborators, or even just articles by others written about Guam or elsewhere in Micronesia.

we would need another service to pull a feed of articles/blog posts/stories from. Do we have this or anything similar? I know we have UOG Wordpress sites going up soon, but is there a way to filter it to only relevant stories? Do you have know where there might be a collection of articles/blog posts/stories that you'd like to automatically be loaded here @burdickdr ?
