@burdickdr what do you think? The Contact link in the navbar just scrolls the page to the bottom
Looks good to me. A minor suggestion would be to use fishes instead of fish, and corals instead of coral. Also, now that the search bar doesn't obscure the header, what do you think of a slideshow that includes a few images (e.g., a preserved fish, a living fish, a living coral, a healthy reef scene, a dried coral specimen)? Or is a slideshow generally frowned upon at this stage in web design? I can never keep up:)
By the way, I flagged the references for which the associated PDFs (if they have one) can be made publicly available. I added a field called "accessibility" and just added "public" to the theses, tech reports, and environmental survey reports. There will be some journal articles that we could publicly distribute, but it will require a lot more work than I can currently justify to separate those out. I'd have to investigate the copyright status of each journal, and even if they allow us to distribute their articles we'd have to figure out how to properly credit those journals. We can deal with those entries later.
This comment and the last one probably need to go somewhere else, but, anyway...I just wanted to make sure you saw the additional feedback suggestions on the search page that I submitted yesterday after you left.
Thank you! Yeah I saw your feedback. That’s helpful, thanks! I’ll tackle them one at a time as I get to them.
I’ll change it to fish and fishes and as for having a slideshow, I can cook one up and we can see how it looks. Do have any high(ish) resolution photos I can stick in it? I’d imagine we would like to use pictures taken on Guam right?
how about instead of a slideshow, it's a random image every reload? I think the image being static would look cleaner.
I can track down some images today or early next week. I think the random image per reload is fine, and would probably agree would be a cleaner design element compared to a slideshow. I just like the idea of highlighting interesting specimens--live and dead--as well as reefscapes from the region (not necessarily limited to Guam), however that is done.
I'm thinking of switching "Explore Our Waters" with "Guam Ecosystem Collaboratorium" since Explore.. is more of a call to action and switching it would bring it nearer to the links to the apps.
