User would probably have to first select a collection, since cat #s are not unique across all collections, then the cat # search field would be populated with the cat # from the scanned specimen barcode. This could be a post-October task. Eventually would be cool to be able to scan multiple specimens in one session, have all of the records show up at once with a single search

to clarify, the user story is:

  1. UOG student scans label with barcode scanner
  2. web portal opens up to the single specimen scanned 2b. as the student scans labels, the web portal opens up / updates with the various specimens scanned
