I think a very low contribution barrier is paramount.
Alternatively, we could include a document with simple steps how to contribute via git/GitHub and write in simple markdown. This is practised by the fantastic online bioinformatics book/text "An Introduction to Applied Bioinformatics" (IAB, https://github.com/gregcaporaso/An-Introduction-To-Applied-Bioinformatics) from @gregcaporaso, see the video "Getting Involved" here: http://readiab.org/. With this approach IAB is growing steadily, while readers can even correct typos while reading the book (via pull requests).
IMO, this issue is also related to #20 (Create online database of Open Science resources), as I don't know if a database is suitable in this case.
Also people without knowledge of git and github should be able to contribute. E.g. if somebody can just write in only MS Word she/he a simple workflow should be offered. For example the raw document could be stored at Zenodo or in this repository and the content can then be included by somebody else. The same could/should be done for graphic contributions.
