Key "Ctrl" or "Cmd" does not work on Mac when trying to access pasting options #1274

Closed kimbostroem closed 1 year ago

kimbostroem commented 1 year ago

This issue is unique.

Operating System

macOS 10.12 or higher

Version information

7.3.3.50

Expected Behavior

Pressing either "Ctrl+T" or "Cmd+T" should paste text-only content, so the original formatting should be removed.

Actual Behavior

Pressing "Ctrl+T" or "Cmd+T" does not do anything, the original formatting is kept.

Reproduction Steps

  1. Paste formatted text using "Cmd + V" on a Mac.
  2. The text is pasted with the original formatting.
  3. Popup menu recommends two options, either keep formatting (Ctrl+K) or paste only text (Ctrl+T)

Additional information

Using the popup-menu with the mouse works, one can select "keep text" and then the original formatting is removed. I use the German localization of OnlyOffice, so the menu in English might sound different.

Hello, @kimbostroem! I can't reproduce your problem. Could you attach a video for a better understanding of the problem, please?

kimbostroem commented 1 year ago

Hi Support,

attached is a video showing how I insert some formatted text into an open document. I want to only paste the text without the formatting, though. Therefore, I have to click on the little popup menu and select "Keep Text only (T)". In the manual it says that I can also press "Ctrl-T" for that, but that doesn't work. Also pressing "Cmd+T" doesn't work. I am on a Mac, so maybe the "Ctrl" or "Cmd" keys are not recognized correctly. Does that make sense?

Best

Kim

Try to do this: Pressing "Ctrl" should open menu with "Keep source formatting(K) " and "Keep text only(T)" -> then pressing 't' should paste only text. If that doesn't help, could you tell me if this is repeated in all files or in some specific one?

kimbostroem commented 1 year ago

This is, of course, what I had already tried. When I press "Ctrl" or "Cmd" (I tried both), nothing happens. No menu opens. Nowhere. As I said, I suspect it is an incompatibility issue with Mac, or with my German keyboard layout, or both.

Hello, @kimbostroem! I tried to repeat it in German keyboard layout, but I can't reproduce your problem. Could you tell me your operating system?

kimbostroem commented 1 year ago

Hi Anna,

thank you for coming back to this issue! My operating system is MacOS 13.4 Ventura. My localization is set to german and I have a german keyboard layout. It has the "Cmd" key that takes the role of the "Ctrl" key on a Windows system. However, the keyboard also features a "Ctrl" Key, which is, however, rarely used for anything except mimicking the right-click when pressed together with the left mouse button. Does this help? Do you have a Mac system to try to reproduce the bug? did you notice the video I have attached to the bug report? (If it's no longer available I can re-upload one)

Best

Yes, reupload video, please. Сould you attach a photo of your keyboard?(where "Ctrl" and "Cmd")

kimbostroem commented 1 year ago

Hi Anna,

please find attached a link to the screen video I uploaded for the reported bug, showing how I have to click with the mouse to enable pasting text-only content, instead of being able to use the key commands. Also attached is a photo of my (very dirty) laptop keyboard, where you can locate the Cmd ("command") and Ctrl ("control") keys, and another photo of my (even dirtier) external keyboard, where you can also locate the Cmd ("cmd") and Ctrl ("ctrl") keys. Does the link work for you? And does this help?

Best

I tried to replicate this on macOS 13.4 Ventura, but I can't reproduce your problem. Is the problem repeated on both keyboards?

Gingetsu commented 1 year ago

To solve the problem, I suggest updating the application.

kimbostroem commented 1 year ago

Good Morning,

I tried to replicate this on macOS 13.4 Ventura, but I can't reproduce your problem. Is the problem repeated on both keyboards?

Hooray! The issue seems to have disappeared! Now I can Cmd+V paste formatted text and then pressing Ctrl, wait a little and then press T the pasted text becomes unformatted! So, whatever caused this bug, now it's gone. You can close my issue.

Thank for your kind support!!

Kim
