It would be nice to have this merged soon since it simplifies when I'm sharing configurations with Xen.

I suppose that with this PR, build/br-ext/patches is useless and should therefore be removed? Or at least some of the patches in there?

Comments addressed and tags applied. Added "xen: remove redundant external patches" to take care of the now redundant patches.
