OPM for South Caspian Basin Reservoirs #3922

Dear developers,

My fellow students and I have been trying to model a reservoir in South Caspian Basin. We are new to OPM modeling and the Linux environment; noted the similarity of inputs with Eclipse and have been using both software simultaneously to make a progress on the try. At this stage, we were able to get a flawless run with Eclipse but still get some issues with the OPM run, please see the screenshots. Is there any way to tell the reason for abortion based on the screenshots? If not, what information do we need to share to figure out the issue? I will appreciate any help

Hi,

Thanks for reporting the issue. The direct cause of the simulator crash is the low-level check for left-handed vs. right-handed coordinate systems in our grid processing routines. We've been getting more than a few of those recently, so there's clearly some robustness issue going on. The underlying issue could be manifold and without some more information it'd be hard to determine the exact cause, leave alone how to fix it.

Do you read in the corner-point grid description—i.e., the COORD, ZCORN and ACTNUM arrays—using the GDFILE (or IMPORT) mechanism? If not, are there multiple pillar top-points that happen to be at the same coordinate? It may be that we'll need access to at least the geometry of this model at some point if you'd like us to try to understand the problem fully, but I'm not going to ask if you're able and willing to share the model right away.

Bård, thanks for the reply,

I have a small sector of the field that is ok to share with all properties including geometry. We are getting the same issue with this sector too. For the sake of the test, I just kept a few time steps in the run. Please let me know if you cannot get the zip file attached. Looking forward to hearing good news from you. Thanks for the help!
