In response to the ballooning of the different distributions of the Flash
Player Plugin across browsers and platforms, we have started identifying KNOWN
BAD versions of flash player.
We have made this decision based on the fact that some people are unable
(either due to administrator restrictions, or lack of knowledge)
Some of these versions can only be identified by a 4th version string component.
I am suggesting that perhaps it may be beneficial to provide this 4th version
string parameter in the swfobject.getFlashPlayerVersion() response.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
N/A
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
N/A
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
v2.2
Please provide any additional information below.
Perhaps we could derive all these known bad combos, and add KNOWN BAD detection
to swfobject.
Since that these KNOWN BAD combinations affect all of us that are still
producing Flash Player content, and we have no guaranteed control over the
versions that Adobe distributes, nor the version which the end user has
installed.
