System - Start-up errors are not written to system log #362

There are many checks and error messages that are properly displayed to the console when the core service is started, but nothing is shown in the system log - just that the process existed. This could be a race condition, or possibly incorrect routing of error messages. This problem makes debugging configuration problems extremely difficult (impossible for non-developers).

I can't reproduce this problem. From testing, all caught exceptions and error messages are displayed in the systemd journal - (note that this is not the same as the system log). Any output to cerr is captured. Could be I was looking in the wrong place. Closing
