Cannot get Windows 11 working anymore with OSDCloud on a HP EliteBook 850 G8 #109

Describe the bug Windows 11 cannot be installed anymore on a HP EliteBook 850 G8. The process is faulting in the phase after the image is downloaded and needs to be processed. It says 'end of file reached' when trying to process the downloaded image and after that several more errors (see the attached logfile)

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior: Start the HP EliteBook 850 G8 from a OSDCloud USB stick Choose your W-Fi Network Start OSDCloudGUI Choose Windows 11 23H2 Choose Enterprise Choose Language NL-NL or En-US. Does not seem to matter Leave the detected driverpack at the current setting Start the imaging process Select Y or A to wipe the disk Let OSDCloud download the image from Microsoft or from the local USB disk if you previously downloaded it Watch the errors enfold after OSDCloud tries to process the image

Expected behavior The expected behavior is the correct handling of the Windows 11 23H2 image and applying drivers. When that process is finished the system is rebooted and the rest of the installation continues.

In this case there are lots of errors (see attached logs) and after a reboot OSDcloud starts again with a fresh setup asking for the Wi-Fi network. Booting from the SSD gives you errors that no OS is installed.

We can install Windows 10 with OSDCloud on the same hardware. No issues there. We can also install Windows 11 23H2 on a virtual machine running on a Hyper-V platform. No issues there. Using the latest available version of OSD ( 24.2.4.1 ). In the past we have succesfully imaged the same hardware multiple times with Windows 11 23H2. Cannot tell you what has changed since then, but it is no longer functioning.

Unable to reproduce.. I have a HP 840 G8 (same platform), and it worked as expected. After it downloaded Win11 23H2 Enterprise, expanded index 6 properly and finished the process without issue.

Things I'd try:

1) Replace the USB Flash Drive with a new one 2) Use a different HP 850 G5 test device 3) Delete your cached .esd file, and ensure it downloads a new one

Recreated the OSDCloud USB disk from a working OSDCloud ISO file on another USB flash drive and all seems fine again. Have not tried it with the 'defunct' USB Flash Drive yet to see if that one still fails. Would be a hardware issue in that case. Will keep you posted

The old USB stick is still refusing to install Windows 11, so I think we can assume this is a hardware issue.
