IETF has deprecated use of 'x-' prefix on mime types #4

Closed smrgeoinfo closed 10 years ago

smrgeoinfo commented 10 years ago

see RFC 6648 Deprecating the "X-" Prefix and Similar Constructs in Application Protocols

rsignell-usgs commented 10 years ago

@smrazgs, so the recommendation is simply to drop the 'x', so that we would have: urn:esri:serviceType:ArcIMS instead of urn:x-esri:serviceType:ArcIMS?

smrgeoinfo commented 10 years ago

I think that the ‘vnd.’ space is the replacement for the ‘x-‘

@smrazgs is this for MIME types or also URNs?

smrgeoinfo commented 10 years ago

didn't the MIME type usages get inherited from URN practice? I'm guessing, not really sure...

tomkralidis commented 10 years ago

This may be a moot point now that we're moving towards URIs? Closing.

Yup
