All in title

timlinux commented 7 years ago

Confirm this - can be seen in Kartoza provider profile too..

rouault commented 7 years ago

For the record, I fixed this manually for my case in wordpress by creating a new location

neteler commented 7 years ago

@rouault I'd do the same for mundialis, how to get into WP?

kobben commented 7 years ago

For the record: same bug for "Local Chapters" pages...

jodygarnett commented 7 years ago

Talk to @jj0hns0n to get access to word press, additional locations being added all the time.

I just added Null Island (which we can use for any organization that want to protect their location)

jj0hns0n commented 7 years ago

@neteler confirming you are in now and can fix this for your records?

Still no solution that I see? Note that both in the OSGEO labs and the Local chapters Forms that people have been filling in, there was a location (lat/lon) field, so folks have been providing these and are assuming the correct location will show up in the end.... Aparat from that, on request of Helena Mitasova, I have created an interactive map for the osgeo labs pages using D3. I send her and the GetInteractive people my solution (check http://kartoweb.itc.nl/D3tests/GeoForAllMap/) , but heaven't heard from them, nor seen any link on the new web pages.

kobben commented 6 years ago

..and because of my comment above ("Forms [had] a location (lat/lon) field, so folks have been providing these and are assuming the correct location will show up in the end"), I strongly object to the label having been changed from "bug" to "enhancement". It is most certainly a bug!

jodygarnett commented 6 years ago

I made a separate bug report for your map #115, it would be really helpful if you could attend one of these meetings and help steer the solution for representing location and how to embed maps.

jodygarnett commented 6 years ago

@kobben can I ask if you mean the origional google form we used for data collection? At the time I was not sure if lat/lon would work, or if we needed a list of locations like local chapters.

I do not think we can assume that the correct location will show up at the end, I have started a discussion on the marketing email list where we can try once again to nail down this #76 requirement.

Hi Jody,

Thanks for bringing me up to date on the OSGEO labs map status. I'd be happy to do both of the things you are suggesting, namely "attend one of these meetings" and (from your earlier email) "Barend and Pim, can you please talk to each other", but please do tell me what "these meeetings" are and who the elusive "Pim" might be ;-)

yours,

Barend Köbben

jodygarnett commented 6 years ago

Sure Barend,

Pim is the graphics designer responsible for the Look and Feel of the new website and the branding. He works for Get Interactive (ie the vendor we have hired for this activity). Jeffrey Laust is the project manager for Get Interactive.

Both Pim and Jeffrey attend a weekly meeting with the OSGeo Marketing committee reps (other groups like GeoForAll have volunteered a member to serve on the marketing committee to coordinate, clarify and prioritize over the course of the year). In this case you have a clear grasp of the challenge facing us, and some direct experience with embedding maps.

I will send you a meeting invite, it contains a google hangout link and the time (wednesday 14:00 UTC - but daylight savings time may mess us up).

Hi Jody,

thanks for bringing me up-to-date and for the invite. Unfortunately, I had to decline, such short notice and a busy teaching schedule do not go well together ;-)

But feel free to put me on the list for a next meeting, or otherwise let Pim and Jeffrey get in touch with me, I'm always willing to help if and when possible...

yours,

-- Barend Köbben

@kobben update from todays meeting, the locations for the data collection (google form) are being migrated into locations now; so we will not be asked to reenter the locations (whew)
