this error hasbeen in the last relase for some time

Are you sure you are using this version? Reading the source code - it seams that the bug should be fixed by now!

@winkey: Is this included with the release on tilecache.org -> http://tilecache.org/tilecache-2.11.zip ? (I think not).

It's also discussed here: http://hmm.rs/sZ but the link to the patch file doesn't work anymore.

If not, where can I find the specific commit (or patch) file to solve this issue? Or is my best bet to get the source here from github and not from tilecache.org?

I figured it out alltogether. The fix is not included in 2.11 on tilecache.org. But it is in this repository. So getting the files from here is the way to go.
