Suggestions for new charts #109

Some ideas for charts you might find potentially interesting

Overall per blockchain, not user specific charts. It's probably better to smooth all these charts using a 7 or 30 days moving average to make it a bit easier to read. 7 is a bit better as it reacts much quicker to the change, but it's possible with 7 days it'll be still very noisy and trend wouldn't be obvious.

  1. Amount of finalized daily jobs over time
  2. Average job price (TRAC/USD) over time. It could be for an average job or split by job holding period.
  3. Amount of TRAC spent by all DCs (or per DC) per day over time. Since you have TRAC price, you can add the same with USD. It'll assume TRAC is purchased the same time as spent, which might not be true, but who cares.
  4. Job distribution over time by holding period
  5. Price (TRAC/USD) of 1 month data holding over time per different job holding time. To see how big the gap between 5 years and 3 months jobs in terms of payment per month of data holding. And if this gap changes over time.
  6. Amount of jobs won by an average node over time, just as daily jobs / number of active nodes by that date. It won't be completely accurate, since some nodes do not bid on all jobs (like 5 years). But I think it's still useful as a ballpark value.
  7. Following the previous one - amount of TRAC/USD won by average job over time. You can add N months forecasts for all of them.

There are more options for user-specific plots, but it needs to be more accurate/specific than non-user specific charts. And it requires a bit more knowledge, e.g. node start date and not offline time if applicable. So not sure how to go about that.

To this excellent list I would add.

"Total Paid Out (TRAC and USD)" per day.

For me this the the key metric that shows actual commercial performance because it is this money that pays hosting fees. A lot of other metrics are about future performance (jobs that might pay out at an unknown USD value) and are just speculation.

Additional Idea:

James B., [28.07.21 11:23] Feature Request for OT Hub: Add a tab section called "Network Revenue". This should show the daily and cumulative value of jobs. It would be great to see cash flow so perhaps the most interesting figure is "paid out to node owners". It is this money (paid out) that pays our hosting fees.

and from the main Tg group,

John Vanderwilt, [28.07.21 13:28] I agree. I have been advocating for a “total locked value” metric so that the project can be loosely compared to other projects. I hope your issue gets traction.

This is actually a very good idea. It is a familiar metric that can give a fair impression of progress. My preferred figure would be for TVL Nodes because at the moment I don't think the staking actually does anything.
