LAV video crash when using with live tv (mediaportal)

Describe the issue you're having:
When using the LAV vide decoder for live-tv I sometimes get a crash of the 
avcodec-lav-53.dll

How can the issue be reproduced? Sample File?
Using mediaportal to use live tv and specify the use of the LAV video decoder. 
It appears to be happening only with hdtv strams.

What version of the product are you using? In which Player?
0.37 with mediaportal

Please provide any additional information below.

Is there any way to enable debug logging inside the lav decoder?

I cannot reproduce such issues.
Does it still happen with 0.39?
