Does it still show the error?
Does it still show the error?
It shows a different error now
I am pretty sure mini.deps
is doing something to the plugin.
It shouldn't be possible to get to that line unless something is messing with the values.
How about you add this to your config and see what happens.
require("helpview").setup({
highlight_groups = {}
});
If the error still occurs then it's definitely caused by something else.

Yes! Now it doesn't throw that error anymore. What do you think might be the issue?
The issue would be that for some reason the if-else
statement before line 32 isn't doing anything.
As highlight groups are generated when the plugin is loaded it's supposed to call the value()
function to get the colors.
But for some reason this step is being skipped.
This causes nvim_set_hl()
to fail.
I can only think of 1 way this happening.
It's when a colorscheme doesn't have any of the fallback colors.
Remove the config table and do this.
So, there's an easy way to fix. If you have Telescope
run :Telescope highlights
and type Helpview
, hit tab and see what highlight groups are defined.

Only these highlights are created.
It should no longer throw an error. But you can run :h helpview.nvim-hls
and see if any of the highlight groups is not colored.
This is what it should look like.

Yup it looks exactly as in your screenshot.
But I have identified one more issue. It is probably because I use mini.icons maybe ig but I find these "Unknown" in the help doc when running :h help
Those Unknown
are coming from code blocks with no language strings.
They are normal.
Also, why the heck does your comments not have a foreground
?
Are you using some old colorcheme?

Nope it is cyberdream.nvim
Why is it always cyberdream 😮💨.
Anyway, long story short, cyberdream has this odd quirk where it just leaves some highlight groups with the normal color. So, expect some things to look like plain text.

Ohh anyways I have raised a issue in the cyberdream.nvim repo to add support for this plugin. Hopefully this plugin will supported by it.
